Additional Activities

This year’s AIPC conference includes an exciting social programme that will give participants the opportunity to network to create new relationships and catch up with friends and colleagues. And what better way to do this than while experiencing the various facets of Liverpool culture on these excursions and tours. Be sure to book early as spaces are very limited.

Optional Pre-conference Activities on Saturday, July 3:

All three tours start at 13:00 hrs from the Jury’s Inn Hotel and return at approx. 16:00 hrs

Beatles Tour plus visit to the Cavern Club  

Ticket to Ride Tour: This is the definitive tour for Beatles’ fans, young and old alike. Accompanied throughout by music of the Fab Four, the tour takes you to one of each of their homes, schools and colleges where they studied, Penny Lane and Strawberry Field and Woolton Village, arguably the most important place in rock and roll history, where John and Paul met for the first time. This is a ‘must do’ tour for Beatles fans. Drinks will be provided in the world renowned Cavern Club following the tour.

Price: £ 25 per person

Anfield Tour & Museum

This unique experience takes you behind the scenes, through the players’ entrance to visit the dressing rooms, interview areas, invites you to touch the famous “This Is Anfield" sign, and down the tunnel to the sound of the crowd. Once you enter the stadium you take your seat in the team dug out, maybe even the managers seat! Your tour of Anfield finishes in the Kop End, one of the iconic structures in world football. You are then invited to the museum, home to 5 European Cups to relive many famous triumphs & get lost in the nostalgia. Refreshments will be provided. Tour lasts 1½ hours.

Price: £ 30 per person

Talk and tour of Picasso’s Peace and Freedom at the Tate Liverpool

“Peace and Freedom” is a major exhibition bringing together over 150 works by Picasso from across the world. This is the first exhibition to explore the post-War period of the artist’s life in depth, and will reflect a new Picasso for a new time. The exhibition provides a timely look at Picasso’s work in the Cold War era and how the artist transcended the ideological and aesthetic oppositions of East and West. A bespoke presentation and refreshments will be offered with a chance to tour this special exhibition.

Price: £ 25 per person

Please note that the above tours will only operate if minimum numbers are reached – guests will be offered an alternative should their first choice be unavailable.


Optional Pre-conference Activity on Sunday, July 4:

Golf at the West Lancashire Golf Club

The West Lancashire Golf Club is one of the ten oldest golf clubs in England and boasts a course that is among the most under-rates in the Bristish Isles. It is a traditional links which has co-hosted the Amateur Championship in 2009 and is a regular final qualifying venue for the Open Championship. A tough test of golf over a wonderful lay-out which offers panoramic views of the Mersey Estuary, Anglesey and the distant Welsh Hills.

West Lancashire Golf Club welcomes golfers from across the world, but the Links are not suitable for high handicap players or novices. Maximum handicaps are: Men - 28; Ladies - 36.

Maximum number of players: 12 persons.

Departure by bus from  Jury’s Inn Hotel
Departure time              10:00 (tee off at 11:30)
Time of return               approx. 1600hrs
Price                            £ 150 per person, including transfers and lunch
